Senior Russian lawmakers warned on Sunday that the U.S. decision to allow Ukraine to use long-range American missiles to strike deep into Russian territory could escalate the conflict and potentially lead to World War Three. This marks a significant shift in U.S. policy, which had previously limited Ukraine’s access to such advanced weapons.
Russian officials, including Andrei Klishas and Vladimir Dzhabarov, voiced concerns that this escalation could destroy Ukraine’s statehood and provoke an immediate Russian response. President Vladimir Putin had earlier warned that if Ukraine were allowed to strike Russian soil with U.S. missiles, it would represent a direct confrontation with the West, potentially altering the course of the war. Leonid Slutsky, another senior Russian lawmaker, stated that such strikes would provoke a severe escalation with serious consequences
